I assume what you have is subtracted the unemployment rate from 100 and called that the employment rate. Of course, this is nonsense.

The current employment-population ratio stands at 58.5% (Bureau of Labor Statistics, June 2010, http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm). This figure only considers the 'working-aged' population.
