There ought to be a light, or a pedestrian bridge, or something in the middle of Colesville between Wayne & Fenton. Most people walk up the AFI side of Colesville, and if you want to cross over to Abol, you need to go to a corner and a light, and I think this makes the casual stroll over to Skid Row too inconvenient for many people. It's for those of you who have forgotten (or more to the point still lived in Arlington) all the "good" things that the crazies tried to "preserve" in downtown. I still remember when the county sponsored all the neighborhood kids (mine among them) to do murals to cover the boarded up buildings that once stood in the Promenade. You must see Skid Row as what it is -- an example of what ALL of Silver Spring would look like if the crazies had won the fights of the middle 1990s. If you ever meet someone who was pro development in 1992, shake his or her hand. So many of the people who fought for change have been forgotten. Go take a look at "Silver Spring Classic" and think about giving them their due. I've lived in SS for 6 years now and like it tremendously. But Skid Row is a perfect name for the row of shops across from AFI. The only redeeming establishment on that street is DiMarco's.
