I'd say in my yard with I get about 3-4 grey-brown squirrels to every 1 black squirrel. Certainly not rare here. I have a bird feeder and pond on an urban corner with 4 large oak trees bearing bumper crops of acorns (no walnut trees around) so I get lots of squirrel traffic.
