Now We Are Six

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the founding of this blog, which launched in 2006 with the ever-so-creative name of "Silver Spring Blog". While it may have gone quiet for weeks at a time in recent months, it's still here, 650 posts later. To celebrate the occasion, The Stage Burger Lounge will be handing out free hamburgers to its first fifty customers tonight.*

*The free hamburgers have absolutely nothing to do with the blog, whatsoever.

Congrats and may the entire crackerjack journalistic staff at Silver Spring Singular be here for many more!

Yes, happy birthday and thank you for all your hard work over the years. It's amazing how much Silver Spring news I learn first on your blog.

Congratulations on six years and on the past 8-10 posts that have gotten an enormous number of responses. SSS is as entertaining as it is informative. Keep up the great work!

I loves being able to keep up with Silver Springs, MD at this blog. Thanks for all the years!

I agree, Silver Springs is an up and coming area and you help get the word out. Nice job.

Congrats on 6 years! I think your blog is informative, entertaining, and gives me pride to be from the Sprung

I moved here four years ago and everything I know about Silver Spring, I know from this blog.

Thanks so much for all your hard work. Blogging can be thankless and the commenters can be arseholes, but you never seem to let it get you down.

This is a great blog, well-written and informative. Bravo!

Happy Birthday! Over the past 6 years, several blogs have come and gone (Silver Spring Scene, Silver Spring Penguin). Hopefully, there'll be many more years of postings to come.

Congrats, dude! It's also my one year anniversary of moving to the Spring and becoming a regular reader of your blog. Much obliged for keeping me informed of the around-town happenings. Keep the posts coming.

Your blog is indispensable! Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for doing what you do SSS! You are my go-to source for late-breaking Silver Spring news. And as a native Silver Springer, I really appreciate your work!

Mazel tov and thanks!

Congrats! I like your posts, however brief, much better than the ones on JUTP, which have become more sophomoric and "preachy" as of late.

You'll be happy to know that Central Car Repair on Selim Road is giving "Silver Springs" as its address on its repair forms.

JUTP has become "more" sophomoric and preachy?! Yikes! I stopped reading it after the skateboarding nonsense, and it's hard to imagine being any worse than it was then. Don't even get me started on SS Patch, which has the most annoying layout and whose writers seem to struggle conveying simple concepts.

This is truly the preeminent source for SS news, so thank you Sligo!

Sligo, you have a talent for highlighting Silver Spring's off-beat and absurd (and sometimes hypocritical) qualities. You should consider posting a compilation of the weirdest local events of the last six years. My vote for most weird was when violence broke out at the anti-violence concert (runner up is Lee throwing money at passers by on Ellsworth).
