Silver Spring's City Sports to Open This Weekend

The grand opening of the City Sports on Fenton Street is scheduled for this Saturday. According to a rep from City Sports,"The new store will have a special women’s section (a huge initiative for the brand this year), freestanding shoe wall and interactive zone, among other features."

There's also a grand opening party planned for Saturday the 26th, with a DJ, food, and giveaways. There will be a contest featuring a grand prize of "free shoes for a year", though I'm not entirely sure what that means. What if I feel like wearing a new pair of kicks every day? Rappers do it, right?

I'm still waiting to hear if they will be stocking "City Sports Silver Spring" t-shirts. Apparently there are custom shirts produced for the Bethesda location, so they better.

Oh snap, watch them stock City Sports Bethesda shirts in Silver Spring! They'd have a riot on their hands and rightly so.

I think the bigger question that is on everyone's mind is, "When will the McDonalds re-open?" lol Oh and another question that I need someone to answer is what is going on with the T Mobile?

Can we get rid of that ugly T-mobile store next to he Filmore?

I went to the LFMAO show yesterday there and it was a great time. But starting at that store i realized that if that strip ever flourishes because of the Fillmore it will need to have a complete makeover of some of the stores nearby.

It's a great venue but people walk out and leave immediately because lame silver spring closes at 11pm (And so does that lame Metro).

I hope City Sports is a success because stores like that are key to getting retail and a real downtown life kickstarted in DTSS.

Either way with the Fillmore and now City sports things are changing. I see a more festive and fun atmosphere lately in downtown and fewer weirdos and thugs.

Or mabye it's just the holidays.

Something is happening there as far as renovating the space. No idea if T-mobile is sticking around or if someone else is moving in. Wonder what's going on with the Kao Thai expansion, too. It seems to be taking forever. If only Silver Spring Patch could pick up where the Penguin left off.

Your hopes for Silver Spring Patch are far too grand. It's nowhere close to filling the void left by Penguin.

Isn't there a running store on Fenton? Have they gone out of business?
