And Here is Your Inagural Fillmore Lineup...
The inaugural lineup for the Fillmore Silver Spring has been announced. Tickets go on sale next Friday for these shows.
I'd actually kind of be interested in seeing the Psychadelic Furs. If a Live Nation rep wanted to provide comp tickets, I certainly wouldn't say no...

this. is. awesome.
Finally Lewis Black will perform in his hometown.
Very excited about Lewis Black performing. Saw him in DC years ago and he wasn't all that kind to SS. Funny though.
I may decide to sit out on the sidewalk the night of the Chromeo show, just to people watch.
I see the Furs almost every chance I get, and they never disappoint. The twist is that Ricard Butler's voice is 100 percent immune from going bad, since it's been totally shot (in a good way) from day one.
Yowza, the Furs and Cheap Trick only a few weeks apart! I'll even see Blondie, even though they've supposedly gotten pretty lame, just to cross it off my list of bands I've always wanted to see.
How can you forget the magnetism of Robin Zander, the charisma of Rick Nielson!?
(Anyone else out there memorize every line from certain 80s movies?)
Does Debbie Harry still perform with Blondie?

And for all you R&B fans, Mary J Blige performs in September!
Did the AARP come up with this list of shows?
Hey Hipster, move back to U or H street where you belong. Make sure your jeans are ripped the right amount though before you do. And don't forget your fedora.
Er, Anon @ 2:52pm you might be showing your age just a tad. I know U St and H St were popular a few years ago, but these days true hipsters aren't seen dead anywhere near those places. I think you might want to focus more on the Eckington/Bloomingdale neighborhoods.
With this line-up, I don't think Seth Hurwitz has anything to worry about. Nothing indie or cutting-edge here, mostly nostalgia acts for the 30 - 40 somethings (of which I am one, without the nostalgia).
As if traffic in this area is not bad enough. Like every major traffic bottleneck in the D.C./NoVa/Md. area, the build-up starts and then AFTER that someone goes "Geez, what can we do to make traffic improve around here?"
I guess I don't have to worry about paying the "service" fees that TicketMaster will charge.
I'm also glad that there is now a crappy theater in Wheaton, as I have no interest in driving there anymore.
Fillmore, Fillmore, Fillmore. You, Thayer, JUTP. Yawn...
I once saw Blondie perform in a gay sort-of leather bar in Chicago back in like 1997 or 98. She came on, sounded like she was high or stoned or something, sang only about 4-5 songs, and that was it.
I hope this show is better.
Not exactly awe-inspiring, but I'm happy with the initial lineup. I may have skipped these shows if they weren't in my backyard, but I'm more than happy to see them so close to home.
My only concern is if this type of lineup is enough to draw the DC/VA crowd. The Fillmore may need them to prove successful.
