Get Your Free Pizza (Freepza?) Next Tuesday

Even though it amounts to the type of free promotion I generally try to avoid, I'll pass this information along since it is a pretty good deal and I realize that everyone is broke and starving these days.

Flippin' Pizza on Georgia Avenue (directly across from Discovery) will be offering everyone free pizza and a soda to celebrate their grand opening next Tuesday.

It the pizza any good? Beats me, but it's free so at least you won't have to spend any money to find out. There's Flippin' Pizza location that just recently opened near my office, but I haven't yet had occasion to try their pizza. Disappointingly, they don't deliver, as their doing so might serve to break the pizza delivery monopoly that zPizza presently holds at my house. (Domino's and Papa John's aren't even in the consideration set.)

Personally, I'm even more curious about Pacci's, the brick oven pizzeria on Georgia, whose opening is steadily progressing.

I've tried Flippin Pizza twice since it opened and I was pleasantly surprised both times. The pies are expensive, but definitely good. The usual deal for 2 slices and a drink is 5 bucks, which is a good bang for the buck.

I know many are going to slam it and say that it's "chain" pizza, but I'm from the NYC area, grew up in Jersey and have lived in the city and Long Island and this is the closest thing to a real slice of pizza I've had in Silver Spring so far, and it holds its own against most in DC metro area. Italian Store in VA and Vace in DC/Bethesda might be a bit better, but this beats the hell out of Z pizza and the others in Silver spring.

I'm also excited for Pacci's, I hope that happens soonish.

Yeah - I can't see standing in what will be a huge line for a $5 meal. On a different/related note, the BW3 in Rockville Town Center is opening next week. You should head up.

Perfect timing since I don't think I'll do much work next week...

One little correction. I think Pacci's is on Georgia Ave. It's a somewhat small space, kind of across the street from the fire station. I think I saw it one day walking from the metro to Murray's Auto to pick up my car.

Of course it's on Georgia. My bad.

I've tried Flippin Pizza both in Bethesda and in Silver Spring. To me, the taste is rather bland. They've got the NY image thing going, but the crust and the sauce is still pretty industrial tasting. I prefer zpizza with their California style pizza (yeah, I was a little hesitant at first about avocodoes in a pizza), and they deliver.

Tried it, hated it. This pizza is so greasy and bland I couldn't finish my two slices. I'll take regular old carryout pizza over this any day.
