Let's Get Ready to Stumble!!!

It's on like an undead Donkey Kong! The Silver Spring Zombie Walk is back for its sophomore year and should be even bigger than last year. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 24th, so you've got two-and-a-half months to prep your costume. No half-assed efforts this year. Whole-assed only! Slapping some baby powder on your face does not a zombie costume make.

Note that slackers will be shipped off to a Japanese Zombie re-education camp.

There will be many updates on the walk between now and October (including, potentially, t-shirt information!), so keep checking the official website of the Zombie Walk and be sure to join the Walk's official Facebook Group if you haven't already.

If you weren't blessed enough to participate in or witness last year's event, be sure check out the 2008 Silver Spring Zombie Walk photo pool.

Just curious - why not wait a week and do it on the actual halloween?

Because people tend to have other commitments on Halloween (parties, kids, etc.), so this frees them up to participate.

How about everyone learn the Thriller dance and do it on Ellsworth, in front of the fountain?

Have you guys seen the new trailer for Zombieland? Totally making a placard that has "the end is near" for the walk.

I think it might be a lot more effective if, this year, rather than assembling at one place, several staging areas were used. Cellphones or "2-way" could be used to coordinate, and rather than a rag-tag mob of zombies all moving abreast in a parade, you'd have several packs of zombies (as well as lone stragglers) converging from all sides to a pre-arranged meeting place.

I mean, it's one thing to have a pack of zombies stumbling in your direction. It's quite another to be surrounded by them.

Why this so much craze. Is it only for crazy sake. There are so many effective ways relax and enjoy life. However, they look great.

I think that this is the rarest of the rare event held in silver spring and it helps people have fun, relax and enjoy life. However, it should not encourage them to be superstitious.
